Reneé Michele is an Oregon composer and pianist whose music is played all over the world. She was nominated in 2009 for the JPF award for her solo composition ‘Far Away’. Her album ‘Essence’ received the 2014 best solo piano album of the year from Enlightened Piano Radio. In 2017 she returned to the mountains of Vermont to once again record under the guidance of producers Will Ackerman (Grammy-winner and founder of Windham Hill Records) and Tom Eaton. As a follow-up to her acclaimed release, ‘Seasons of the Heart’, The Space Within (released January 2019) proves that sometimes sequels are every bit as good, if not better, than their predecessors.
Reneé’s characteristic light touch on the keys, where nuance and tone are emphasised over drama and power, is on abundant display throughout the ten track album which encompasses a mixture of moods and evocations unwinding across all the selections, however the music maintains a significant calming sensation, from the gentle sombreness of ‘My Angel’ to the haunting melody of ‘In The Mist’ or the wistful tone of ‘Life As a Cloud’ Reneé’s goal is to capture the emotional essence of each composition and communicate it to her listeners.
Will Ackerman states “Reneé Michele tells the truth however remarkable her playing is, those prodigious talents are always in the service of the heart. Though it easily could, Reneé’s ego doesn’t drive her. It is the soul of human emotion that inspires her and connects her with us in her new album, The Space Within.”
Reneé is currently working on her 7th studio album ‘Life Is but a Dream’.
